Biomedical Technician

Job Description and Requirements

Role Purpose

Assists with the organization and implementation of preventive maintenance as well as the ongoing maintenance programs for all of the Hospital’s medical equipment, thereby ensuring safe and efficient operation.


  1. Responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of biomedical equipment maintenance policies and procedures.
  2. Accomplishes work requests in a timely manner.
  3. Implements preventive maintenance schedule and records such activity on the appropriate cards and files.
  4. Observes the work of individuals who come from service contractor and learns more about the specific equipment being serviced.
  5. Assists with the preparation of monthly reports and other various reports pertaining to biomedical equipment.
  6. Fully aware and actively implement the departmental policies and procedures, local and international accreditation standards or requirements related to the department.
  7. Facilitate requirements of Medical Equipment Management Program relevant to organization wide functions and processes.
  8. Actively involves in indicator development, data collection for the department and to measure the performance of the function, process, and outcome.  Whenever required, conducts analysis and interpretation of data/information collected.
  9. Participate in hospital Safety Management & Risk Management Programs. Actively reports incidents in the system and whenever needed, participates in incident review, and root cause analysis.


Associate degree with specialization in electrical or biomedical engineering, or its equivalent.
